      Hello Renee,
Alonzo Lafayetre Farnsworth was also my great grandfather going back I believe five generations. My mother was Juanita Roiene Farnsworth Daffern. Her parents were Juanita Armenta Farnsworth and Alonzo Lafayette Farnsworth, great grandson of Alonzo Lafayette Farnsworth.
I remember visiting some of my mom’s relatives on my grandpa’s side in Showlow, and Snowflake, AZ
I didn’t know where my mom was born until I seen her death certificate when she passed away.
      Sincerely,
      Lavonne Daffern

My Grand Father was a Capitan in Villa’s Rebel Army. He shared many stories with me about how the ‘Saints’ were welcomed into Northern Mexico just to be kicked out by anti Christian Huerta and Carranza. I look forward to this site if allowed. Thank you

I would like to join the group. My great grandmother, Ida Beryl Wilson, was born in Colonia Dublán in 1900; and my great grandfather, William Wellington Wilson, was born in Colonia Diaz in 1894.

My grandmother Maria Del Rosario Laborin Franco settled in colonia Dublan around 1935 while my grandfather, Juan Manuel Quiroz Aldaco, headed down the mountain to join his family. My aunt Genoveva Quiroz Laborin, their eldest daughter, died 4 Dec 2002 in Colonia Dublan, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was married to Juan Flores Ortiz of colonia Dublan who died in 1985. They married in 26 feb 1939 at the age of 18 in Colonia Dublan. Other members of the family included my mother Sara Quiroz Laborin who were converted to the Mormon faith.

My grandparents’ story is about an American Mormon family from Colonia Dublan (name unknown) that offered my grandmother (who was pregnant at the time and living homeless on their property) shelter and food for herself & children. This gracious family made it possible for my relatives to attend the Academia and later attend Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City Utah in exchange for labor on their Rancho.

It is my hope that someone reading this post will be able to share stories about my family’s humble beginnings. To date members of my mother’s family are still living in Colonia Dublan.

I am the daughter of Howard Lunt, born in Colonia Pacheco (1907), son of George Albert Lunt and Kindness Flood Johnson. George is a son of Henry Lunt. I am interested in finding any information I can about the Lunts of Pacheco. Heaton Lunt was a son of Henry, also. My Grandfather George was a hunter’s guide in the Sierra Madre, and on one of the hunting expeditions, a Mexican was killed–I have no details at all–no idea who it was, or who killed him. The story passed down in the family is that George left Mexico because of that. I don’t know if he took his family of five children, or if he left and Kindness and the kids came later. They settled in Cedar City where George had lived before, then came into the Gila Valley and started Lunt’s Dairy. Is there anyone who could guide me to more information?

Hello, my husband is the descendant of Susan Holden, who was born at Colonia Diaz in 1891. Her father was Almon Nahum Holden and her sister was Julia Lovinia Holding Whiting who was the wife of Bernard Whiting, son of Charles Whiting. I believe that Nahum may have come to Diaz the summer of 1887, from Springerville, Az. but would love any information I can find regarding his journey. He died at Colonia Diaz in 1897 and is buried at the Colonia Diaz Cemetery. I would greatly appreciate any information regarding his death, and also wonder if it is safe to travel to that part of Mexico.

      Robin,

I am a descendant of George Heber Holden, brother to Susan and Julia. I do not have the information you are seeking about Almon Nahum but would love to exchange any other information or stories. I am searching for a story about their brother James Holden when he was a young man living in Colonia Diaz. I saw it online in the early 2000’s but have never been able to find it again.

Would like to join the group. My grandfather was Dulces Nombres Gonzalez and Grandmother was Maria Juana Urbana Gamboa Gonzalez. They were one of the first Mexican Families to join the Church from Chuichupa, Chihuahua on August 5th, 1911. They were baptized by Jame A. Jesperson and Confirmed by Meliton G. Trejo in Colonia Juarez. I am currently researching and writing a book on my grandfather and grandmother and ask for the help of those who may have information about them.
